The next Kansas LEND’s Family Education Series –VIRTUAL
Advocacy: It’s All In The Family – A Parent Panel with Stephanie Coleman, Kansas LEND and parents from the Disability Community will be held on Thursday, October 13th 6:00 – 7:30 pm CST.
Description: Parents are their children’s first advocate whether they have a disability or not. However, when you do add in an Intellectual or Developmental Disability there is often added stress and worry when advocating. It is common for parents to be shutdown. They often don’t feel that they are knowledgeable enough or that there may be retaliation, even when advocating about their own child. This session will address some of the worries mentioned above and personal stories of advocacy from parents and caregivers.
