Community Living
We all want to feel like we belong. At BHA, we provide safe, supportive residential placement services in a community-based setting for individuals experiencing severe behavioral health challenges due to their developmental disabilities.
We offer real homes. Our philosophy is that individuals have a right to live in the community – and they don’t belong in institutions, lockdown facilities, hospitals, or jails. Community living leads to better quality outcomes for the individuals we serve.
High Quality of Life
Emphasis on community integration
BHA services promote behavior change – increasing socially acceptable behaviors and decreasing challenging behaviors – thereby enhancing the individual’s integration into the community.
Daily Person-Centered Activities
Designed to enhance learning and personal competencies
At BHA, we offer staffing ratios determined by each individual’s needs and through collaboration with their team. They receive the support necessary to grow, learn, and live in a community.
Retention of Daily Living Skills
Encouraging each individual to live as independently as possible
At BHA, our residents live in real homes that have been carefully designed to accommodate each individual’s needs. Here, they work together on life skills that will enable them to transition into less restrictive environments. Each individual is thoughtfully paired with others based on roommate capability and the support they each require. Scheduling fun outings, personal appointments, and doctor appointments are just some of our many Community Living services.
